Christian Leadership Institute for youth - Christian Leadership Institute (CLI) will be offered twice this summer, June 17-22 and August 5-10, at the Twin Lakes Christian Center near Manson. This is an outstanding opportunity for youth from your parish to develop their leadership skills to serve the church. For more information, contact Pat Finan 641-842-5148.

What is the Christian Leadership Institute?

*The Christian Leadership Institute or CLI is a week-long training event designed to teach young people the skills necessary for effective leadership with other youth and adults in a parish or school youth ministry setting. CLI offers an opportunity for leadership development through the intense period of learning and community living. The program is an in-depth experience of skills development in the areas of organization, communication, and motivation, as well as personal growth which enables each young person to discover his or her own leadership style.

 

Who should attend?

*Young people ages 15-18, who are preparing to enter at least their sophomore year of high school. Each candidate should be either currently involved with or beginning a leadership role in a parish, school, or diocese.

 

*Adult Youth Ministers, parish pastoral and school personnel. CLI is a highly valuable learning experience for the adult. Adults are expected to be present for the entire week and participate fully in the CLI Process.

 

What Else Should I Know?

*There are 72 participants per session

*Registration is a first come, first-served basis

*Registration will NOT be taken over the phone

*Registrations for the 1st week must be postmarked by June 1; Week 2 by July 15th.

*Cost is $245. (includes room, board, materials, tuition, T-shirt and water bottle)

*Non-refundable $75.00 deposit due with registration

*Balance should be paid two weeks prior to your week. Failure to do so will result in forfeiting your spot.

 

After the registration date, each candidate will receive a packet with a confirmation letter, medical release form, packing list and any other info that you will need.

What are the components of CLI?

Skill Workshops:

Each day includes a large group workshop on one of these leadership skills:

*Leadership Styles

*Communication

*Planning

*Group Dynamics

*Consensus Seeking

 

Support Groups

Throughout the week, CLI provides an opportunity for participants to practice these new skills working in small groups. The small group is also a place to share insights on special topics such as:

*Prayer

*Decision Making

*Call to Ministry

*Youth Ministry

*Affirmation

 

Prayer, Workshop and Social Time

Each day there is time for recreation and relaxation, prayer and the Eucharist, and getting to   know other youth throughout the state of Iowa.

Is there group registration?

Yes, if a group is registering from the same school or parish, or under the leadership of one youth minister, the registration forms should be sent together. Maximum of seven youth from one parish or school will be accepted per CLI session. If seven students are registering from one area, we request that at least one adult form that area also be a participant. Contact your local diocesan office for team training information.
